In 1972, the Mayor of Inglewood crowned Los Angeles as “The City Of Champions” after the Lakers won the NBA World Title in 1972. That continued a trend of hoisting trophies in Southern California as the franchise went on to win another ten. Kobe Bryant played a pivotal role in half of those, which is why the late legend deserves the recognition via this upcoming Zoom Kobe 1 Protro.

Official images of the upcoming release have surfaced, decorated in a Work Blue, Metallic Gold, and Summit White palette. The exterior of the Swoosh and mudguard features an elegantly cracked surface for an aged appearance, while the muted blue shade overtakes the upper, ankle collar, and interior. Beneath is a gum bottom sole in Summit White.

The “City Of Champions” is communicated through special detailing on the interior. For example, the 67-99 denotes the years the Lakers played at The Forum, while the insoles act as a city map that marks where the legendary arena is located.

Currently, the release date for this Zoom Kobe 1 Protro has not yet surfaced; however, it seems likely that a launch will arrive sometime around the NBA All-Star Weekend festivities.
