Unearthing the Air Force 3 from the archives, the Japanese streetwear pioneer brought his unmistakeable expression through bright colors and patent leathers–an unofficial trademark of the A Bathing Ape Sta. Countless releases of the AF3 later, Nigo and the Swoosh are ready to close this book and ponder the next move.
Still. there’s one drop left to go. Closing it out is a fun “Homecoming” theme that channels his love of Americana and collegiate sports. The resulting design is inspired by varsity jackets, but the concept goes beyond the vision as this collaboration involves Pendleton, the Oregon-based textile company known for their wool. Below, Nike presents an official lookbook for the collaboration, showcasing a “Homecoming” party inspired college freshmen making one last appearance at their old stomping grounds.
Two editions of the Air Force 3 are delivered–one in navy/grey and another in green/yellow. As mentioned, both pairs feature Pendleton wools on the upper and insoles, the latter featuring an official logo patch of the American brand. Alongside the footwear are two jacket pieces covered in satin, ample NIGO/Nike branding, an a custom Air NIGO logo on the chest that honors one of Nike Basketball’s most timeless emblems.
These varsity jacket themed pairs are expected to launch on Human Made on January 31st in the green colorway, followed by a SNKRS release on February 6th in just the navy colorway.
