Andrew Rizzo Convening on Los Angeles, the sneaker festivities surrounding this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend are unlike anything we’ve seen before. Full-scale retailer takeovers by Foot Locker and Shoe Palace headline the chaos, joined by tons of additional activations centered around today’s biggest NBA stars and most anticipated releases.
As the most popular signature line in the game — and given the setting — it’s only right that Nike’s Kobe Brand is playing a leading role. Just ahead of the real ramp-up, the Nike Basketball account dropped a cinematic trailer showing the Kobe sheath taking over SoFi Stadium (home of the Clippers, but you get the point).
Kobe product makes up a sizable chunk of the All-Star slate, led by the Kobe 6 Protro “All-Star 3D” and Kobe 3 Low Protro “Warning Label.” We’re also getting Kobe 1 and Kobe Air Force 1 Protros inspired by The Forum in Inglewood, the Lakers’ former home and host site for events like the Celebrity Game and HBCU Classic this weekend.
