The shell toe has been a staple of streetwear for four decades, but could it reach the same status in formalwear? adidas has been asking that same question of many of its most beloved and well-trod silhouettes over the past year and change, sending those German classics on an exchange program to Italy for its splashiest moments; Gazelles, Sambas, and Superstars with gaudy pricing and the materials to match being the reference there.

However, the Lux redux of those shoes isn’t restricted to those premium Italia affairs. Indeed, the Superstar has been the most visible proof in recent months, continuing a years-long celebration of its legacy by trading its typical sports leather for cushier counterparts. The adidas Superstar Lux build makes landfall again for Spring 2026, carrying a seamless, embossed body and a revamped version of its rubber sole units. There, toothed traction and textured welting imbue the earnest air of crafted loafers, only heightened by the simplistic palette on display here.
