Steph Curry’s “Sneaker Free Agency” Sotheby’s Auction Raised $1.7 Million

Offering up pieces from a truly tide-shifting moment.

Steph Curry’s “Sneaker Free Agency” Sotheby’s Auction Raised $1.7 Million

Update: Sotheby’s has reached back with the final tally for “The Stephen Curry Collection: My Sneaker Free Agency,” an auction series that offered some of his game-worn pairs in his spree through the footwear landscape. More than 70 pairs went up for sale, vied for by over 400 unique bidders, eventually raising $1.7 million in total (approximately $25,000 a piece). His 2010 Nike Hyperdunk PE led the pack, propelled to a $121,600 closing price on account of the shoe being the only one previously worn by #30. Further highlights include the Kobe 6 “Mambacita” ($76,800), ANTA KAI 3 “Chinese New Year” ($70,500), and PUMA HALI 1 “Hibiscus” ($44,800).

Proceeds raised from this Sotheby’s link-up will now go to the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation founded and headed by Steph and Ayesha Curry, aiming at fostering children’s upbringings through nutrition, education, and play.

Original article published April 7th, 2026:

Many NBA players have been sneaker free agents before, but none quite like Stephen Curry. An explosive combination of the “league fits” era he occupies, an extremely high-profile and unexpected breakup with Under Armour, and crucially, his status as a player that’s redefined modern basketball in his image has made his jaunt through the industry a can’t-miss plotline.

As the Warriors’ 2025-26 campaign nears an end and a hiatus on that tour looms, Curry and Sotheby’s are teaming up for a no-holds-barred showcase of what he’s worn over the past several months. In a digital auction open from April 13th to April 28th, bidders will get the chance to pick up Steph’s swag from various tunnel walks, pre-game warmups, and game action, with a litany of them bearing individualized touches. In their release, Sotheby’s highlights several, including the Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game,” Nike Sabrina 3 “By You,” Nike Kobe 6 “Mambacita,” adidas Anthony Edwards 1 Low, and the On ROGER Pro “Fire.”

While the tacit question running throughout this free agency is where Steph will end up at the end of the day, this is a celebration of the moments where he was free to look back on any moment in sneaker history and flex how his star power could propel any singular brand. Again, the digital auction goes live on April 13th. Peruse some of Sotheby’s selections below.
