Matt Varga Functionally, as soon as the confetti drops on the Super Bowl winners, we shift into “hope springs eternal” season for all 32 NFL teams, moving their mindset from on-field results into the realm of the hypothetical. Yet while free agency and trades in the offseason can provide fanbases writ large with reasons for optimism, nothing is an accelerant in that way quite like the NFL Draft.
On the eve of the 2026 festivities in Pittsburgh, Nike is sending their own card to Mr. Goodell, announcing which aspirant pros will be rocking the Swoosh as they start their journeys. As far as first round hopefuls, the defensive game-breakers so often bandied about in the top ten, from David Bailey to Sonny Styles to Akheem Mesidor are part of the class, with back nine representatives in Jermod McCoy, Mansoor Delane, and Dillon Thiemann.
Of course, those on the offensive side of the ball are often the most visible, so names like Omar Cooper Jr. and Mike Washington Jr. ensure Beaverton will have representatives at the skill positions. Nike calls out the fact that some of those were sought after for their record-breaking abilities, with Washington Jr. notching the fastest 40-yard dash of this running back class.
