Super Saiyan Blue is the form achieved when a fighter combines the power of a Super Saiyan God with the traditional Super Saiyan transformation, the result being the iconic blue hair and eyes seen throughout Dragon Ball Super.

The vibes are unmatched in the Mecca. The New York Knicks’ first round series looked incredibly grim at one point, letting up a 2-1 lead to the Atlanta Hawks, but it’s been nothing but easy Ws in the time since; felling Atlanta and now Philadelphia by margins of 16, 31, 51, and 39. Ever the cool customer, Jalen Brunson was measured in post-game availability following a comfortable Game 1 win, but if he won’t provide us with a headline at the podium, he’s still plenty prone to do so with his footwear.
Indeed, en route to his second 30-point outburst in the past three games, Captain debuted a new version of the Nike Kobe 3 Low Protro, a silhouette he’s already indelibly connected to since he gave it its first in-game action during the regular season. Calling to mind his “Statue of Liberty” Kobe 6, this pair utilizes similar turquoise tones down the midline, but is really centered around a subzero gradient from baby blue at the toe to white at the heel. In that way, it reminds of the Kobe 3 “Christmas,” one of the very first Protro releases for the III as a whole, but Jalen’s finishes with deep blue branding on the tongue and heel.
Of course, as Kobe Brand’s favorite son currently in the NBA, this isn’t #11’s first brush with a first look. During that aforementioned Hawks series, he put a spin on 3-D aesthetics via the Kobe 6. Looking forward, on his Roommates podcast with teammate Josh Hart, he had previously promised that he “had one more” PE to debut during the ‘yoffs. Whether this pair closes out his range of unseen exclusives remains unclear; we’ll have to hope for as many NYK victories to up the chances.
