Uhh… what? The latest Nike Air Force 1 Low to cross our desk is the oddest we’ve seen in a minute, a head-on collision of materials and textures that are practically polar opposites.
Coming to us via retailer images overseas is the Air Force 1 “Patent Denim,” featuring a full glossy patent leather upper printed with a blue jean-like wash. Golden yellow contrast stitching only adds fuel to the ambitious aesthetic clash, while white selvedge detailing appears on the spine.
Patent leather Forces are having a moment right now. From the smash-hit Air Force 1 “Patent Pack” to collabs by Lil Yachty, Central Cee, and more, Nike has been effectively channeling one of the AF1’s strongest eras, a trend soon to be supplemented by the Air Force 1 ’01.
