The 1954R features an upper inspired by both the original New Balance 1906 and 2002, two premium running models from the late 2000s and early 2010s that have gone on to greatly inform the brand’s retro lineup. Given that both heritage models share the same sole unit, the midsole serves as a natural connector, the same one used across other new models like the 1890 and Ronnie Fieg’s 2011.
