Andrew Rizzo Never change, Flimby. New Balance’s England factory is stepping into Fall 2026 with a masterful, distinctly Brit-coded take on the original New Balance 991 silhoette, an even more premium output from an already premium product line.
Here we have the New Balance 991 “Dijon,” set apart from other Made in England shoes with a full undyed European suede upper. The undyed process means natural variation across the fabric, raw edges included. Save for the lower half of the tongue, every exterior element comes in suede, forgoing the model’s usual mesh base, leather underlays, and even reflective “N” logos for a full commitment to the defining material.
After a few quiet years following the debut of the 991v2, the original 991 made its return late last year, releasing alongside its successor in a number of brown-toned, Brit-coded colorways. Do note that the original 991 runs slightly narrower than the v2, so consider going true to size or a half size up if you’re on the fence.
