Matt Varga In an interview for Nike’s editorial arm, Kevin Durant espoused the benefits of competition in youth basketball, how the AAU circuit builds up a familiarity with and a resilience within a regimented schedule of organized basketball. Though his adolescent hooping days predated the EYBL tournaments, it’s moments like his breakout in a Maryland tournament that inspired his own involvement with Nike’s summertime annual, so often bringing the product to match.
Last year was a particularly bountiful period for that, as on top of exclusive colorways for participants, fans got a chance to cop EYBL heat on the Nike KD 18, part of a building PE-to-public pipeline that the Swoosh has supported on silhouettes like Durant’s or Devin Booker’s. On the horizon for the KD 19, there’s no such sequel looming to our knowledge, but those in competition this year did get a chance to chart some new territory for the sneaker.
The 19’s journey so far has been one that’s been entirely monochromatic aesthetically, uniting all of its general release pairs in one solid, candy-painted tone. The Nike KD 19 “EYBL” thus is a real chance to see some range from the model. The Z-shaped pronouncements get a steely blue outline, while the Swoosh and tongue interiors feature a stem-like neon green. True to the “Peach Jam” title, the rest of the shoe fills out in a pale orange.
Of course, the Nike KD 19 “EYBL” will only be available to tournament invitees (or those willing to pay a pretty penny on the gray market). However, anyone can get a sense of this edition via the images below.
