Matt Varga Despite many regarding it in the lower echelons of the Retro catalog, no doubt owing to it lacking the iconic on-court moments from His Airness, the Air Jordan 9 has gotten some serious burn in 2026. From the impending Air Jordan 9 “Space Jam,” to a reinterpretation of a 2010s pack release in the “What The Kilroy,” to the return of the Jordan 9 “Flint,” it’s clear that the silhouette has been a priority. Another erstwhile side job for the model is evidently on the way back as well, as the Air Jordan 9 Boot surprisingly emerges in an iridescent colorway.
The hardened variation on the AJ9 initially touched down in 2017, taking the essential “Olive” colorway and outfitting it with more durable materials and waterproofing details that allowed Jordan fanatics to bring their Retro rotation into harsher conditions. The reimagined build would continue making scattered appearances throughout 2021, including some expressive colorways like the “Green Abyss” and even some college PEs.
In its first public drop in nearly half a decade, the Air Jordan 9 Boot “Iridescent” threads the needle between the stealthy aesthetics that defined much of its run and more experimental looks. At rest, shaggy suede backing in grey and an otherwise steely body make these almost fit for workwear, yet under light, rainbow flashes come to the curved siding of the AJ9.
Look for this Air Jordan 9 Boot in “Anthracite/Multicolor” to hit shelves come Holiday 2026, placing its release between the start of October and the end of the year. A $240 retail price is confirmed.
