In the peak of the sneaker boom, the Air Jordan 1 Mid offered a “close but no cigar” consolation for those who struck out on its Retro High OG counterpart, a frequent use case as the originals so frequent sold out almost as quickly as they came to light. To put it mildly, we’re in a cooler era for the AJ1, but if you’re looking for similar style at around $45 cheaper, the Mid is still your huckleberry.

Over the years, we’ve seen Nike reach for Neapolitan combinations frequently on the more playful side of their roster, often scooped onto the Nike Dunk given its history with the palette by way of Stussy. This isn’t the Air Jordan 1 Mid’s first take on the sugary layout either, but the pair at hand advances the ball with an embroidered Swoosh that makes clever use of negative space to create its core branding.
