The Air Jordan 9 may have never gotten an on-court moment with His Airness, originally dropped during his first retirement, but it certainly got its share of on-screen appearances. Though the Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam” is easily the most identifiable Retro with that title, the Tune Squad had to secure one of Mike’s “Black/White” Air Jordan 9s as a good luck charm in the seminal 1996 classic.

It’s that piece of lore that led this Air Jordan 9 to nab that retroactive title, something that still rankles those who regard these as the “OG” or the “Playoff.” By any name, this colorway remains one of the true classics on the silhouette, now folded into the 30th anniversary celebration that’ll result in something like a dozen SKUs eventually touching down by the time 2026 is done.

The black/white/True Red colorway returns faithful to the original, but the ’26 version distinguishes itself in the packaging. A brand-new special edition “Tune Squad” shoe box arrives with each pair, replete with a Jumpman 30 logo, a still from the film, and an inscription that reads:

In 1996, the film Space Jam united two icons — Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny — in a cultural moment that defined a generation. The AJ9 and AJ11, both featured on screen, became legends in their own right. Now, 30 years later, Jordan brand celebrates the film’s enduring legacy and MJ’s timeless impact with the return of these classic silhouettes.
