The Jordan Heir series (and Series 2, more specifically) has been positioned by Beaverton as the brand’s first real foray into “unisex” design in basketball. To that point, the NBA season showed its cachet within the men’s game, seen on Bam Adebayo for its first in-game action and on the Finals floor via Carter Bryant. Yet there’s no denying that the W has embraced the silhouette wholeheartedly, and as their postseason tips off, the Jordan Heir Series 2 “Concord” provides another sensible option for win-or-go-home play.

Pairing jet black mesh uppers with “Concord” purple on the synthetic containment and the sole unit makes us immediately think of the Golden State Valkyries, a perfect match for frontwoman Gabby Williams and the Bay Area squad’s rosy color scheme. Beyond the always successful tone-on-black concept this shoe reaches for, it’s another moment where Jordans of days past inform their modern roster; it’s hard not to think of the Jordan 11’s or the Jordan 12’s work with the dark purple shade when confronted with this color code anew.
