Kobe’s revived performance line is staring down its first foray with his post-retirement catalog. The Nike Kobe AD, first let loose to the public a few months after his iconic “Mamba Out” moment, returns to the mainline via the “Purple Stardust” colorway, but it’ll only ramp up in the months following. To that end, we’re now getting our first look at the Nike Kobe AD Protro “Laser Orange.”

A full-length React carrier, forefoot ZoomX, and heel Zoom gussy up the 2016 silhouette for this renewed life, intact with this “Laser Orange” formulation. This provides the first brand-new colorway in the model’s history, as the “Purple Stardust” was a revisitation of a royal purple edition dropped in 2017. Emphasizing the modernized aesthetics retroactively applied to the performance shoe, a fiery gradient brings the midsole from yellow-red to burnt orange at the rear, bolstered by a similarly darkened Swoosh and comprehensive sunny tonality otherwise.
The Nike Kobe AD Protro “Laser Orange” retails for $155; Foot Locker Australia has these listed for October 2nd, but obviously that hasn’t come to bear globally. We should see these hit shelves sometime in the coming weeks.
