Andrew Rizzo Now fifteen seasons into his NBA career, Andre Drummond has finally joined the signature shoe ranks. The path he took to get here was anything but conventional. The longtime Nike and Jordan man charted a new course earlier this year with the announcement that he would serve as creative director for Stria Sport, working on creative projects across the board while also landing his first signature model. Last night, in his debut for the New York Knicks, that model got its first coming out moment.
Enter the Stria Sport Drumm 1, debuted on-court against LeBron and the 76ers in a Knicks-friendly blue and silver colorway. The shoe is sleek by design, sporting a low-profile construction, V-shaped tongue, and oval accents that circle the full upper. We don’t have close-up shots to break down yet, but it appears the bulk of the build is a simple combination of synthetic leather and mesh, keeping things ultra-minimal all things considered.
Drummond was named creative director of Stria Sport before he signed with the Knicks this offseason, and the brand likely couldn’t be happier about where he ended up. The veteran center appears poised to log serious minutes in front of the biggest market in basketball, a huge visibility boost for a footwear brand with high ambitions. Such is the case for several of the Knicks: OG Anunoby with Skechers, Jose Alvarado with AND1, and Landry Shamet with Serious Player Only.
