Talk about a full-circle moment. Shortly after making waves on social media with custom skull-laden Vans, South Korean artist Wreckpack is now getting a full-fledged release by way of Vans OTW and Bad Idea by CHITO. Even better, the pairs arrive just before October 31, and trust that they’re plenty worthy of cracking your Halloweekend rotation.
This is also a culmination of the Bad Idea platform as a whole, just over two years old at this point, which has previously featured custom Old Skool with the artwork of Pain Stretch and Sweet Life Street Life. Put into the function machine, CHITO’s lens turns signature Wreckpack skull motifs into a repeated black pattern, applied comprehensively throughout the body of the Half Cab, before taking on something of an eerie tiger stripe in the sole unit. Likely the most eye-catching detail comes with the fact that a capsaicin-loaded green-to-orange gradient works its way from the top of the shoe to the midsole welting, before off-type black-and-purple paces the section below.
In addition to the Wreckpack x Bad Idea by CHITO x Vans OTW Half Cab itself, a tee and a sweatshirt are also coming to Vans.com on October 29th. The shoes clock in at $150, the sweatshirt at $180, and the tee at $65.
