Will the Jordan 6 Rings be making our (or likely any) sneaker of the year list? Almost assuredly not, but the hybrid sneaker has kept a strong foothold in sneakerheads’ minds even without the series of collaborations and high-heat colorways that earnest members of the Retro catalog recieve. From a certain perspective, it’s almost more impressive given that lack of splashy moments.

Even if it may not have a Fragment nor a Union collaboration coming anytime soon, the Jordan 6 Rings “Varsity Jacket” finds space to put a new coat of paint on the mashup model. While the white/black/green colorway may scream Philadelphia Eagles before any college outfit, look to the tongue patch to see the new twist. Standard versions of this model utilize the tufted chenille fabric you’d see on an Air Jordan 8; this variation looks to a flattened, embroidered counterpart that replaces the Jumpman stamp with a uni-like “J.”
