The Shrouded New Balance MTX580 GORE-TEX Goes Into Stealth Mode

The Shrouded New Balance MTX580 GORE-TEX Goes Into Stealth Mode

The New Balance 580 rarely — if ever — sees the light of day. Back in 2019, however, the model was brought back courtesy of Beams and mita sneakers, the two applying a protective shroud to the humble runner. Today, almost exactly two years thereafter, that same rendition is back, soon to release bearing the same lace shield and a brand new GORE-TEX upgrade.

Gone, however, is the two’s collaborative cosign. Instead, the silhouette is offered as a GR, lacking any second name save for GORE-TEX’s which is found along the heel’s branded hangtag. Elsewhere, NB insignia sits front and center, dressing both the tongue and side in the same black and grey colorway scheme that the rest of the construction employs. The zippers, midsole, and underlying laces, too, are executed the same, rounding out a rather perfect rainy day beater.

And as we await their upcoming release — through select retailers and possibly NewBalance.com — check out a detailed look at the pair below.
