Trae Young’s Next adidas Shoe Is Partly Inspired By Adilette Slides

When Grammy-nominated Atlanta-based rap group Migos codenamed the Hawks point guard as “Ice Trae”, all signs pointed toward the makings of an all-time Hall of Famer. Couple lightning quick speed with eye-popping vision and a range that encases all 94 ft. of the hardwood and you’ve got one of the most transcendent hoopers in the game paving the way for the next generation.

Announcing the next chapter in the two-time All-Star’s budding journey with the Three Stripes, adidas Basketball has unveiled the highly-anticipated successor to Trae Young’s debut signature silhouette, the adidas Trae Young 2.

“My childhood dream was to have my own signature basketball shoe and it’s surreal to be announcing my second sneaker with adidas,” Young said. “Through our partnership we aim to inspire future hoopers to dream big and stay true to themselves. I hope that others can relate to my journey as an example of what is possible through the game.”

Flipping the commonly known sequel-syndrome on its head, the Trae Young 2 melds a bevy inspirations from the adi Originals haus with advanced performance innovations for unparalleled energy return, such as the sock-like fit of its adaptive knit upper which works in tandem with both Boost and Lightstrike-housed technologies that render more similarly to the bubbled adidas Ultra Boost construction this time around. Coupled with forefoot branding pulled directly from the Adilette Slide, Young’s second model employs future-forward styles while borrowing a similar sole-unit aesthetic found on the Trae Young 1.

Headlined by a black/neon/baby blue proposition, further offerings include an “Electric Purple” build that features scarlet accents, a simplified cyan/white combination and team-ready black/grey/white outfit.

Set for a retail price of $140, the adidas Trae Young 2 will release on November 1st in select retailers and online at adidas.com. In the meantime, enjoy official images of the debut pairs below.

For more under the Three Stripes umbrella, adidas is releasing a collection of Sambas inspired by the Mexico Federation Football jerseys.
