Jared Ebanks From “Bred” to “Lucky Green”, Jordan Brand has continuously taken both their iconic and lesser-known colorways and strewn them across a variety of its early signature workings. After taking a short hiatus from the latter to pump out a trio of DJ Khaled collaborations, the exploration of familiar hues has returned to outfit the Air Jordan 5 in an “Aqua” accent.
Pulled directly from the Air Jordan 8’s three original propositions in ’93, a luminous “Aquatone” extends from the near-clad black ensemble that centers a majority of its inclusion amongst the tongue’s tooling through its Jumpman logo, nylon liner and translucent lace lock. Mirroring further aesthetics from the AJ 8, a jet-black nubuck envelops the entirety of the upper’s smooth overlays, vamp, eye stays and collar – save its semi-translucent white TPU midfoot panel and silver metallic tongue. Returning to the established titular blue for its concurrent insignia affixed to the heel counter and sectioned tread underfoot, a seldom yet effective hit of “Taxi Yellow'” emboldens the midsole alongside the tongue’s “AIR JORDAN” text, bringing a close the scheme akin to Chris Paul’s player editions as a New Orleans Hornet.
