In 2016 Russell Westbrook capitalized on his innovative obsession with experimental fashion, founding Honor The Gift, a street-fashion label dedicated to #0’s fervent connection to LA’s inner city. Marred by braggadocious prints and oversized pieces, Jordan Brand is recognizing the achievements of its signature athlete once again with a tonal homage across the Jordan Why Not? 0.6.
Having first coordinated a stylistic collaboration with the Jordan Why Not? 0.5, Westbrook’s latest signature silhouette explores an array of earth tones with a solid stone hue enveloping the upper’s concocted TPU shroud, tumbled leather mudguard and nubuck heel counter for a neutral introduction. Contrasting the latter with a jet-black lining, the tongue construction begins to infuse hits of brown along the zipper and tongue before the underlying mesh and laces return to the dominant “Taupe” setting. Illuminated by the heel’s embroidered Jumpman cast in a vibrant yellow, the tongue tab’s chenille fabric indulges in both Westbrook’s Jordan and Honor The Gift insignias while the latter brandings enjoy an ink-black cursive appearance along the heel’s orange pull tabs. Elsewhere, the collection of hues clothes the midsole in a speckled arrangement whereas the tread underfoot concludes in a semi-translucent wash of cream.
Packaged in a specialty branded box, the pair’s insoles come littered with Varsity style basketball motifs and imagery concluding the label’s hardwood influence. While we sit tight on further release details, enjoy official images of the Jordan Why Not? 0.6 “Honor The Gift” below in the meantime.
In other news from the Beaverton-based brand, the Nike Ja 1 “Scratch” pays homage to the Grizzlies’ history.
