Even before Sean Wotherspoon wowed with his Air Max 1/97, corduroy saw notable use throughout sneaker culture, accenting near forgotten Dunks and Vans alike. And over the years, the Swoosh has continued to make use of the iconic material, even going as far to cover the Air Max 1 entirely in wide wale cord.
Appearing via retailer images, the Nike Air Max 1 “Baltic Blue” strays far away from the model’s usual construction. Instead, corduroy is used almost comprehensively, outfitting the shoe’s overlays and unders alike. And though visually one note in its emphasis on the titular cool tone, the colorway does incorporate hits of “Sesame” and “Gridiron” along the branded fixtures and lining/outsole, respectively.
Sat atop a “Sail” midsole, the Nike Air Max 1 “Baltic Blue” is expected to release in the first half of 2023 at select retailers as well as Nike.com.
In other news, another Aime Leon Dore New Balance Rainier is on the way.
