It’s no secret: the Nike Dunk Low is a popular sneaker. To keep things fresh, however, the Swoosh has updated the 38-year-old design for the fashion-forward crowd. For its latest attempt, the Oregon-based company has landed on the Dunk Low Twist, a women’s-exclusive model that’s recently appeared with “Jade Ice” flavor.
The updated design maintains the general look of Peter Moore’s creation from 1985. Yet, closer inspection reveals some aesthetic changes that warrant a $20 USD price increase.
Smooth leather sets the stage for a medley of panels across the upper. The “Summit White” base is offset by the “Jade Ice” tone that animates everything from the forefoot to heel. A semi-translucent, plastic bumper appears at the tip of the toe, as well as around the lower heel. Different from Moore’s original Nike Dunk, the TPU component adds to the sneaker’s “Twist.” Elsewhere, raised branding on the top of the tongue and plastic swooshes on the sidewalls further modernize the basketball shoe from the 80s. Unlike other versions geared towards women, the Nike Dunk Low Twist maintains a standard sole unit.
Enjoy a detailed look at the shoes ahead, and anticipate a nike.com launch soon for $130 (up from the $110 for a standard Nike Dunk Low).
In related sneaker news, the Air Jordan 3 “Lucky Green” releases in women’s sizing on April 6.
