This Stealthy Nike Air Max 1 Features “University Red” Flair

The Nike Air Max 1 is the gift that keeps on giving.

Recently, Tinker Hatfield’s industry-changing design from 1987 emerged in a dark-colored ensemble perfect for autumn. Fabric and textile make up the sneaker’s top-half, donning different shades of black. Miniature swooshes on the lateral forefoot interrupt the near-uniform finish, as does the “NIKE AIR” branding on the tongue label. Air Max bubbles underfoot and text on the spine also indulge in ruby-colored flair, contrasting the charcoal midsole. Lastly, the waffle-patterned traction reverts to a pitch-black arrangement that complements the rest of the sneaker well. The Air Max 1 deviates from the silhouette’s original color-blocking, but bears resemblance to a “Black/Oil Grey/University Red” option from 2018.
