Nike, Inc. hasn’t unveiled its “Year of the Dragon” collection just yet, but special makeups for the Lunar New Year have been popping up throughout the last few months. The latest example arrives in the form of a women’s Nike Dunk Low LX.
Branded with “Just Do It” text on the tongue label, the sneaker is laden with Eastern influence. For starters, panels around the toe, along the tongue, and across the heel feature scale patterns don in “Dusty Cactus.” A similar tone has appeared on other special pairs prepped for the occasion, most notably the Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Year of the Dragon” expected to release in late January 2024. Hits of blue also animate parts of the premium Nike Dunk, but the deep red contrast found throughout the upper plays into the zodiacal calendar more.
Aforementioned “Just Do It” text sees its letter “D” stylized as a dragon. Non-standard branding printed onto the sockliners indulges in a medley of sunrise-reminiscent colors and is complemented by vibrant playful cloud graphics. A similar shape appears via the Dunk Low’s lace dubrae, which houses a claw-like figure. Together, each component makes for an arrangement worthy of the Year of the Dragon celebration.
Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead, while you wait for firm Nike SNKRS launch details. The special women’s Dunk is priced at $135 USD.
