The Nike Dunk Low is fast-approaching its 40th anniversary. As the old school basketball shoe inches closer to another milestone birthday, it’s looking to the past in both direct and indirect fashion.

The recent SNKRS Showcase unveiled plans to reto three of the most-beloved takes on Peter Moore’s design in 2024: “Ultraman,” “Reverse Curry,” and “Silver Surfer.” The Swoosh is seemingly referencing 2003’s “Dirty Denim” Dunks as well, albeit with an all-hairy suede upper.

In the aftermath of Nike SB‘s launch, the Oregon-based company delivered dozens of regular Nike Dunks to consumers. One such offering was clad in “Navy Blue/Cascade Blue/Magnet” and expanded the silhouette’s “LTD” (read: “limited”) catalog. Overlays throughout the upper indulged in a cool grey hue, allowing toe boxes, mid-foot panels, and heel areas to enjoy dark blue finishes. Panels along the tongue also partook in the blue party, differing from the newly-surfaced pair expected to drop next year. The brand may never confirm nor deny the grey and blue Dunk’s connection to the “Dirty Denims,” but the resemblance is there. Furthermore, the unreleased shoe wouldn’t mark the first time the Swoosh has been self-referential.

Enjoy retailer photography of the pair ahead, and anticipate a nike.com launch in early 2024. The suede-covered style is priced at $125 USD.
