Three colorways are revealed ahead of their Spring 2024 launch.

First Look At The Jacquemus x Nike Air Max 1 ’86

Updated January 27th, 2024: The Jacquemus x Nike Air Max 1 ’86 is revealed in three colorways. It’s apparent that Nike gave Jacquemus free range with this collaboration as some drastic changes were made by the French fashion designer, transforming the iconic to the point where it’s almost unrecognizable as its base model. The modifications include an enlarged, rectangular window revealing the Air Max unit, shrunken metallic Swoosh logos, perforations on the leather underlay with the quarter panel remove, and a re-shaped mudguard that features a divot at the toe.

In coordination with 2023’s Air Max Day, Nike returned the iconic Air Max 1 to its original “Big Bubble” tooling. Initially gracing the Tinker Hatfield design for less than a year before being recalled due to cracking sole units, the model’s archetypal “University Red” effort kicked off a burgeoning roster of OG and contemporary installments. Come 2024, the Nike Air Max 1 ’86 will be teaming up for its first collaborative treatment alongside routine Swoosh collaborator Jacquemus.

Dropping its first joint effort with the Beaverton brand in the fall of 2022, the high-fashion label is expected to transition its bold color palettes onto the brand’s chief Air Max tooling. While colorway, material and storytelling details have yet to be revealed, the silhouette is reportedly confirmed to incorporate the model’s ’86 composition. The Simon Porte Jacquemus-led brand began its relationship with Nike Inc. featuring a luxurious version of the Nike Air Humara last year. Followed by a set of monochrome J Force 1’s in tandem with a bright orange effort, we’re expecting the low-top Air Max 1 to indulge in either the banner’s neutral or titular aesthetics.

The Jacquemus x Nike Air Max 1 ’86 is currently expected to release in the spring of 2024. Stay tuned as we await first-look imagery and further release details.

In other news from the Beaverton brand, the Jordan 4 “Olive” is scheduled to be released on November 12th.
