Following the earlier leaks, Salehe Bembury has officially revealed a first look at his upcoming New Balance 530 collaboration.
Though his work on the Crocs Juniper and the Pollex series has taken precedence in recent times, Salehe Bembury remains one of the biggest names in New Balance’s collaborative roster. Last making a splash with the now coveted New Balance 1906R “Heat Be Hot,” it seems another link-up is on the way. Early images have just emerged of a new special edition New Balance 530, presumably launching Fall/Winter 2024.
In typical Salehe Bembury fashion, his take on the 530 is loud and expressive, pinning lime green hues across a mix of suede & mesh on the upper. The details aren’t any less vibrant; plum and purple paint the branding and outsole while steely shades of grey and blue mark the medial “N” icon.
Zooming out, Bembury’s work on the New Balance 2002R and 1906R amplified what were already hot silhouettes. Hence, the choice to place his next collaboration on the New Balance 530 is a switch-up; while the model majors in the same Y2K design language, it hasn’t experienced the same meteoric success. This may signal a shift in creative strategy out of Boston, attempting to uplift a more low-key silhouette with a name proven to move product.
At this early stage, release details are very limited. For now, check out the images we have so far, and keep an eye on our Sneaker Release Dates page for up-to-date info as it emerges.
