The Air Max 1 may not be in the same Y2K class as the Zoom Vomero 5 or New Balance 1906R, but the all-grey aesthetic here reinforces that it’s an S-tier “dad shoe” in the right applications. A greyed-out concoction of “Photon Dust” & “Wolf Grey” is on the way in men’s sizing.

It’s not quite a fully tonal execution, as the shades of grey tapped for this shoe are just far enough apart to create some real contrast, but that sort of spirit shines through all the same. Mesh & suede materials remain unchanged from classic Air Max 1 executions, maintaining timeless style on this pair, clearly intended as an easily-reached-for daily driver.

The speckled sole underfoot is additionally noteworthy; while “Next Nature” sustainability-minded sneakers were rolled out with that subtitle initially, more and more we’ve seen touches from that sub-brand creep onto mainline drops without much of a mention. In case you needed one more reason to scoop up this edition, the ostensible recycled grind sole here might be your answer.
