For Nike and sneakerheads alike, the return of the Air Max Sunder has been one of the most celebrated developments of 2024 thus far. The Beaverton brand marked the release of the “Canyon Gold” debut pair with a clever marketing campaign taking place in Sunderland, England, followed by the arrival of “Fuchsia Flash” and “Electric Green” colorways shortly after. Now, the 1999-born cult classic is ready to assume an all-new composition for Holiday 2024, working in GORE-TEX fabric for the first time ever.
The Air Max Sunder GORE-TEX was first previewed during the most recent SNKRS Showcase, with purple, red, and black colorways for women put on display. The last of those three colorways is the first to actualize via official retailer images, shown here courtesy of Size?. Simply put, GORE-TEX fabrics land on the Air Max Sunder effortlessly, perfectly camouflaged to the point where such weather-ready enhancements are almost impossible to distinguish. The upper consists of durable yet flexible nylon GORE-TEX fabric, while the mudguard portion appears to be comprised of “Dark Smoke Grey” nubuck and TPR pods.
Alongside the aforementioned purple and red colorways, the Air Max Sunder GORE-TEX “Black/Dark Smoke Grey” will arrive during the Holiday 2024 shopping season for $210. If that’s a tough price to swallow or if you simply can’t wait until the end of the year, the standard version is releasing in similar “Black/Metallic Silver” makeup on September 18th for $180. Taken with a stealthy, versatile aesthetic, both releases are sure to be trophies among archive-obsessed consumers and those who strictly wear black shoes only.
