Sneaker coverage and the industry at large operating so far in advance can often be a blessing; we can all chart what pairs we’re looking forward to months ahead of time. However, it can also be a curse, and the Air Max Dn is potentially a victim this time around. Though it hasn’t even turned a full year old yet, it’s already got competition with looks at the Air Max DN8 hitting the internet. Even if another silhouette will be in focus this March, there’s still time for the “Dynamic Air” model to keep up its strong rookie year, and this “Racer Blue” colorway attempts just that.
It’s almost an inverse of the Air Max Dn “Hyper Blue” released in July, switching to a lighter swapping to pure white secondaries, both as the underfoot foundation and the base of the aquatic gradient up top. In trademark fashion, “Vibrant Yellow” makes an appearance on the “Dynamic Air” tag on the tongue, but it takes on an increased tertiary role by painting the midfoot mini Swoosh and tinting the synthetic foxing there and on the heel.
As time goes on, this sort of ombre look is becoming well-trod territory for the Dn, taking after its spiritual predecessor, the Air Max Plus. Zooming out, this continues a run of looks that’ve expanded the model’s aesthetic range, set to take its biggest step yet in 2025 with the Air Max Dn “Camo” and Air Max Dn “Snakeskin.”
The Nike Air Max Dn “Racer Blue” will likely hit shelves either to close 2024 or open 2025; expect the typical $170 retail price for this edition.
