The New York City Marathon is recognized around the world as the pre-eminent foot-race with a global unifying power. From high-endurance Africans to Chilean miners, the NYC Marathon featured competitors from all around the globe and once again proved that it is the most anticipated annual sporting event on the international scale. Kicking off NYC Marathon Weekend was a special event held at WEST NYC, a staple of the New York City running underground and one of the longest retailers of athletic and lifestyle footwear.
In collaboration with Nike, WEST created four colorways of Nike runners new and old as well as a limited edition set of Nike x WEST NYC Apparel, and this past Thursday was the place to get your hands on ’em. Hip-hop artist Bow Wow, Queens-based BMXer Nigel Sylvester, and international club-scene mainstay DJ Sal Morale were some of the guests who came to celebrate with WEST and cop some of the new kicks and threads, and the morale was high as Hennessy Black was handed out and music by DJ D Nice permeated the room.
