Nike keeps turning the clock back further and further with their retro releases, with 2012 seeming particularly heavy on the vintage looks. The Nike Pre Montreal Racer might be as far back as they go for this year, but the Nike Air Tailwind reaches pretty deep into Swoosh history as well, a sneaker that first hit the market back in ’79. To celebrate the re-release, Berlin’s Firmament put together this snazzy installation, aiming to capture the historical important of the first shoe to feature Nike Air technology. The moon landing comparison is a fitting one, echoing a moment when Nike planted their flag on the sneaker world in what was certainly one giant leap for footwear.
