Nike’s Chunky Shoe Era Begins With This Women’s M2K Tekno

Nike’s Chunky Shoe Era Begins With This Women’s M2K Tekno

The “dad shoe” craze is in full swing, and Nike’s getting in on the action with a chunky new shoe for the ladies: the M2K Tekno, first seen in John Elliott’s Fall/Winter 2018 show during New York Fashion Week. The shoe draws clear inspiration from one of Nike’s best-selling (if not most appreciated) shoes of all time, the Air Monarch, as it offers a very similar silhouette with a hybrid version of the Monarch’s midsole and upper and the same outsole. The “Phantom” iteration of the Tekno features a sail/light grey upper with multiple overlaid leather panels and swooshes, offering a unique layered aesthetic. The heel features bright orange plastic detailing,  and a large orange swoosh adorns both insoles. The shoe’s normcore look is tied together with a tonal sail midsole and black/grey outsole. Several colorways of the Tekno will be arriving this spring and summer, and this light-colored version is set to release May 19th on Nike.com for $100 USD.
