By fusing old-school models from different categories and adding modern-day tech like Boost cushioning, adidas’s Never Made line has reimagined some of the German brand’s most timeless silhouettes in a fresh new way. Now, the next pair to join in on the new-jack hybrid stylings is the Crazy 98 BWY, a shoe that mixes the Crazy 98 — also known as the KB8 II when it was affiliated with one Kobe Bean Bryant — the BYW, and the adidas Micropacer. A space-suit style combination of silver mesh and leather provides the base color, and each shoe’s distinct look is utilized in a different way: the Crazy 98 provides the upper, the BYW is called upon for the midsole/thick chunk of Boost in the heel, and the Micropacer provides the aforementioned silver colorway as well as the blue Three Stripes graphic on the midfoot. Further colored accents are then provided by the blue piping that runs around the throat, the red/silver lace loops, and the bold red plastic midfoot shank.
It’s rare that three largely unrelated shoes are brought together in such an eloquent fashion, so if you want to add this interesting homage to Trefoil Brand history to your sneaker rotation, you can do so on February 23rd, when they’ll release at the retailers listed below for $160 USD. You can also expect more colorways to release over the duration of the spring/summer season.
