Michael Jordan’s oft-overlooked Air Jordan 2 is scheduled to join the namesake brand’s growing 2020 release calendar in bold “Raptors” color scheme in the coming months. The ’86 silhouette’s rich leather upper is done in the same “University Red” that simply accented last year’s Air Jordan 4 “Raptors” shoe. The scarlet tone completely takes over the nubuck ankle panels, rubber heel overlays, and the model’s signature lizard skin-style detailing at the midfoot. Contrast to the red palette comes by way of purple hits lining the aforementioned ribbed material, as well as eyestays and a “basketball-and-wings” logo on the tongue sporting the “Court Purple” found on the Toronto team’s throwback jerseys. Rounding out the “Raptors” colorway, black joins the mix at the laces, tongue, and midsole, while also appearing on the collar and heel.
A release date hasn’t been confirmed by Jordan Brand just yet, but this women’s exclusive pair is rumored to drop sometime in February – perhaps around All-Star Weekend alongside the Air Jordan 3 SE “Fire Red”. Nevertheless, keep it locked to our Jordan Releases 2020 calendar for any updates and enjoy the mockup below.
UPDATE: A tentative March 5th, 2020 release date has been given to select retailers.
UPDATED (2/11/20): What was initially believed to be a “Raptors” colorway retro has been revealed to be a multi-color Jordan 2 inspired by Michael Jordan’s earliest rivals.
