Elliot Santiago Jaden Smith, son of world renowned movie/television actor Will Smith, has carved out his own lane to fame through creative mediums such as fashion and music. Wise beyond his years, the 22-year old phenom has never feared to express himself whether it be through fusion of luxury and streetwear sensibility, or passion for philanthropic efforts tied to a more sustainable future. And as a result, the “ERYS” rapper has finally earned himself his first sneaker collaboration with New Balance, one that celebrates his own unique style and personality.
Dubbed the Vision Racer, these kicks blend together classic design language with contemporary aesthetic by fusing elements from two of Smith’s favorite NB models, the New Balance X-Racer, and the 1700. Its low-profile constructions consist of 60% recycled polyester that form its thin polyester base, and sits adjacent to overlays that alternate between suede mudguards, and reflective accents placed atop the tongue webbing, “N” logos, and midfoot piping. Down below, its chunky midsole is divided into three segments; the heel and forefoot sections being longer in length among them. While primarily hued in a “Wavy Baby Blue” throughout, these bold and vegan-friendly sneakers feature accents via white hits towards the midsole gaps, insoles printed with his signature, as well as “(Vision)” graphics executed in repeated/tiny fashion along the midfoot, and in oversized font similar to his album branding across the outsole.
