Nike’s emphasis on sustainability has been prevalent through the creation of new, innovative silhouettes such as the Space Hippie, which uses a Flyknit yarn 85-90% composed of recycled materials. Another approach towards eco-friendly footwear has been the incorporation of such materials into mainstay models. The upcoming Air Max 90 follows this route in a black and electric green arrangement.
The pair sees a primarily black base, with wool-like textures on the heel, tongue, and swoosh created by upcycling waste products. Hits of the neon “Electric Green” can be seen on the eyelets, cassette, and contrast stitch detailing, adding unexpected pops of color. As for the sole unit, a trendy “Light Bone” midsole runs along the Air Max 90 and is finished off with a unique speckled outsole made of regrind rubber to fulfill the brand’s visions of sustainability.
You can grab a pair at the retailers below when it drops on January 7, for $140.
