As sneakers continue to be a core component of street style, Nike’s grade school-exclusive “City Special” pack is a nod to some major cities turned style hubs. Following LA’s Air Max 97 and NYC’S Air Max 95, the Air Max 90 is next up to show some love for Chicago via a red tonal approach.
This ode to the Bulls’ hometown receives smooth leather uppers and other sleek textures all tinted in various reds and oranges. While the base and midsole seem to be covered in the same shade of red, the mudguard and Air cassette opt for a darker, burgundy-like hue. The aforementioned colors are contrasted by brighter hits of orange, as seen on the side Swoosh and branding used throughout. To mark its membership in the “City Special” pack, a small label that reads “CHI” is stitched near the ankle. Furthermore, the insole features a rectangular logo that uses the same “CHI” text.
