The adidas Anthony Edwards 2 marks the second signature sneaker for Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards. Serving as the direct successor to the Anthony Edwards 1 — which debuted in late 2023 and earned Sneaker of the Year praise in 2024 — the Anthony Edwards 2 arrives with plenty of anticipation.

Our first glimpse of the adidas Anthony Edwards 2 came during an internal adidas earnings call in March 2025. By August, the brand officially unveiled the shoe during Edwards’ first China tour, where Ant conducted media sessions and introduced his next signature model to a global audience.

Design-wise, the Anthony Edwards 2 follows adidas Basketball’s recent push toward bold, performance-driven silhouettes. It replaces the honeycomb cage of the Ant’s first model with ribbed mesh panels reinforced by a sharp TPU frame that wraps the forefoot and heel. This TPU element incorporates carbon fiber at the rear for stability, while ventilation zones along the forefoot improve breathability.

From a performance standpoint, the adidas Anthony Edwards 2 is built for Edwards’ explosive style of play. The sneaker features a lightweight knit-and-mesh upper with a forked TPU overlay for lateral support, a neoprene inner bootie for comfort and lockdown, and an aggressive traction pattern for quick cuts and responsiveness. Cushioning comes via a dual setup of Lightstrike and Lightboost foams, striking a balance between energy return and step-in comfort. Signature Anthony Edwards branding appears throughout, cementing the AE 2 as both a performance weapon and a true reflection of Ant’s game.
