Air Jordan 11
The Air Jordan 11 is a basketball shoe designed by Tinker Hatfield for Michael Jordan. It first debuted on the basketball floor in 1995 when MJ came out of retirement. During 1995-96, a season when the Bulls brought home a championship, the AJ11 served as one of Mike’s main on-court options. The famous picture of Jordan lying on the floor after winning that year’s NBA Finals displays him wearing the popular Bred colorway.
When it originally arrived on the market in 1996, many were drawn to its design as it was unlike anything consumers had ever seen before. The combination of ballistic mesh materials, wrap-around patent leather mudguards, icy outsoles, and carbon fiber midsole plates provided a sporty-yet-formal concept.
On top of continuing to be a best-seller, Jordan himself has cited the model as his favorite. Some of its most popular versions include mid-profile colorways such as the Concords, Cool Greys, and Space Jams, as well as the Bred 11s, whose last retro release in December of 2019 was deemed Nike’s best-selling sneaker in history.
One of the most storied traditions in Jordan Brand history is the annual Jordan 11 holiday release. After more than a decade of massive drops, Jordan Brand is tripling up in 2025 — the Jordan 11 “Gamma Blue” returns as the main attraction this year, but is flanked by the women’s Jordan 11 “Sail” and the all-new Jordan 11 “Rare Air.”
On the flip side, the Low version of the model has carved out serious real estate as a part of the Summer slate, which didn’t change this year. The Jordan 11 Low “Bred,” a never-before-seen replication of a MJ sample and the more lifestyled-minded Jordan 11 Low “Igloo” are set for Summer ’25.
