New Balance Fresh Foam BB v2
The New Balance Fresh Foam BB v2 is a basketball shoe first released by the Boston sportswear brand in January of 2024. Its predecessor came to market the year prior but was quickly pulled off shelves due to quality control issues on the eyelets and sole, eventually returning a few months later with remedies to prior issues.
New Balance-sponsored hooper Zach LaVine of the Chicago Bulls had a heavy hand in developing the Fresh Foam BB v2, which is for all intents and purposes vastly different than the v1. Performance-enhancing features include a full-length, dual-density Fresh Foam X midsole, an internal midfoot TPU plate, and hexagon-patterned outsole.
All pairs feature the same tooling underfoot, but the upper doesn’t stick to any one formula. Materials like suede, canvas, leather, and mesh are used interchangeably across the catalog, with some pairs even stripping the upper of its overlays. Most modern colorways feature oversized New Balance branding akin to that of the WRPD Runner and New Balance 327, but other more classic looks bring metallic silver logos to the table.
