Nike Book 2
The Nike Book 2 is Devin Booker’s second signature shoe under the Swoosh, set to release in January 2026 in two Suns-themed colorways.
The lead-up to the Nike Book 2
The Nike Book 1 era was a divisive and long one, some celebrating the star’s first design, some reviling it, but all united on the longer-than-average lifespan of the silhouette. In addition to a year-plus run of mainline colorways, PEs for Booker himself, ultra-limited special editions, college editions, and swag for other NBAers (we’re looking at you, P.J. Tucker) pushed the total number of colorways for the Book 1 past triple digits.
All of that led to palpable anticipation for the Nike Book 2, something we began seeing seeds of in September 2025 before a full-blown media reveal in November. Behind the scenes, Nike treated news outlets and creators (SN included) to a first look and design breakdown, timed to an on-court debut of the model for Suns–Trail Blazers in Portland.
Design inspirations and tech specs
Compared to its predecessor, the chief hardware shift for the Nike Book revolves around the sole, where a slimmer build, Cushlon 3.0, and a Zoom unit in the forefoot aim to answer one of Booker’s chief concerns: being able to better feel the court beneath his feet. Lead designer Ben Nethongkome described the overall focus as one of “trimming the fat,” felt in a 5% weight reduction in the sequel and a shorter overall cut.
Even in far-ahead leaks, the resemblance between the Nike Book 2 and the Nike Spiridon was evident, something Devin confirms as a cue to one of his personal favorite archival kicks. His appreciation for the Nike Air Force 1 also radiates through this design, utilizing its concentric traction pattern as a foundation but overhauling it with sun detailing that connects to the overarching concept of the desert. Additional touchpoints include the Nike SB Nyjah 2 and the Nike Cradle Rock, famously worn by Steve Nash and referenced on a Book 1 PE.
When to expect the Nike Book 2
The Nike Book 2 will release in the “Rising” and “Phoenix” colorways in January 2026, each retailing for $140. The former capitalizes on a black nubuck build, while the latter evokes molded predecessors like the Foamposite with a chunky, synthetic upper. Something of a “hand-off” will occur between Chapter One and Chapter Two, as a burnt colorway of the Book 1 gives way to those aforementioned “revival” concepts.
