Nike Air Trainer III Grey Black Red

The timing is interesting.  Having seen the first Air Trainer II in about eight months earlier today, Nike is dropping a new edition of the subsequent model.  The Nike Air Trainer III is back in a colourway that just can’t go wrong: grey, black and red with a touch of white.  These also feature an interesting geometrical pattern on the lining that peeks out just a bit around the ankle.  If you like the retro high-tech look done up in a classic palette, cop these now on eBay. Hi. Beautiful shoe!

Please see my comment on the “Air Trainer II” post of earlier today. These shoes here are really the Air Trainer SC 1, not the Air Trainer III. There was no original Air Trainer III. Instead the SC 1 was retroed with this new, made-up name after Nike mistakenly retroed the SC 3 with the plain old SC name.

The other shoes you are calling the Air Trainer II are the Air Trainer TW II. There is no such thing as an Air Trainer II, you just got the order of TW and II mixed up. The incorrectly named Air Trainer III also gives rise to the false expectation that an Air Trainer II exists.

The full name of that shoe is the Air Trainer Totally Washable II. It belonged to a line of about 4 or 5 shoes, updated annually, with the names Air Trainer TW (3 models), Air Trainer TW Lite (1 model?) and Air Trainer Lite (1 model?). The line initially filled the niche for a washable shoe but changed over time to just fill the light weight product niche.

    Thanks.

Wow Nata5_23, you are pretty rude and don’t even know what you are talking about. Take a look at this link. It has pictures of all three Air Trainer SC models at the bottom.

The ones signed by Bo Jackson are the SC III. The next ones are the SC II. The ones in the last picture with Tinker that you think are the SC II’s are the first SC’s.

You can see the progression in style and technology in these shoes. Perhaps you think these are the SC II because Nike are calling the retros “Air Trainer II”. They had retroed the Air Trainer SC III without including the III in the name when they retroed the SC I they had the problem of what them to avoid confusing people. They chose to make up a name that sort of fits beause the SC followed the original Air Trainer as the premium model of the second generation of trainers. In effect the SC 1 could have just been called Air Trainer II back in the day except they decided to call it the Air Trainer SC as they expanded the category into multiple products lines – the Air Trainer SC line, the Air Cross Trainer line, the Air Trainer TW line, etc.

Btw, I’m 35 and I know this stuff because I’m an OG head who followed the products back in the day. I’ve also done the research and found catalogs and pics and confirmed the information with other OG heads like WallyHop on Niketalk.

I don’t expect an apology, you probably won’t even see this comment, but it would be nice. I wish I had seen your comments earlier.
