“Best of” lists are usually a source of much controversy, as opinions will always differ on any debatable topic. So, when we started to put together our Top 30 Sneakers of 2009 list, we got as many opinions as possible, asking our entire staff and some friends in the industry to rank their favorites from the year. Each individual list was then indexed and used to create composite rankings, ensuring that a variety of opinions would be factored into the final list. The result is a comprehensive list of all the kicks that made our cut this year, along with some crisp photos and background info on each.

From this list I copped: #23 Toro Bravo V’s, #5 Eggplant Foams, & #1 Space Jam XI’s. Shoes not on this list I copped: Nubuck XII’s and a couple pairs of low top dunks. 2009 was a good year. Bring on 2010!!!

don’t know about space jams at #1, but the rest of the list is pretty good. Love them or hate them but the Yeezy in my eyes is the most important sneaker of 2009.

I think its a great list an faily accurate. There are a couple that I would not have put on there but thats why it’s sneakernews top 30 and not my top 30. I would say I personally copped about 75% of these

Space jams shouldn’t be #1… It’s all The hype now, 2009 retro sucks balls. Yeezy’s def made the greatest impact this year and shouldve taken the crown.

Space Jams are super basic and mainly hype, I like the white/black CW better. But as far as shoes this year I’d give it to Pacquiao (Lights Out), Kryptonate (almost cried when he came out the locker room with those on), and Yeezy.

The sneaker game has exploded so much it has me dissillusioned and turned off. What goes up must come down. The game will die off. Nike has dominanated and cornered the footwear market for 30 years. The end is near. Lives change. What am I going to do now with a house full of sneakers? People accuse me of having a shoe/foot fetish. Not anymore. 2010 is going to be Nike free! Don’t be blinded by the Swoosh!

shouldn’t this be the most “hyped” list of sneakers of 2009….spacejams are nice, no doubt, but to those who swear theyre the best release ever, or questions others motives if they don’t like them, well you are whats wrong with the sneaker game…

I looked at the pic and read the article. I would agree with most of the shoes I’ve seen in that pile, from the Eggplant Foams to the Zen Yeezys, etc. Good choices

you a straight hypebeAst if you think the 2009 space jams are #1..you just wasted 175.00 on some basically fake jordans, cuz they look fake compared to the 2000, and on some cheap materials. Atleast Yeezys you felt the quality on them…and the fact that they were limited was well worth the money.

either 09 was wack with kicks, or sneakernews doesn’t know sneakers… yeezy’s #2, really? out of the 30 on this list, its 4 that are heat, the rest are so so or just plain BASURA. what happened to the bo jackson (original colorway) or the “swoosh life” blazers? i could go on and on.

no love for the Hare Jordans, the red and black 1′s from the DMP pack, the Toronto and Orlando colorway 6′s. The HOF ones are also top 30 worthy. And personally I love my AJ1 Premiers. Maybe yall left most of these out cuz Jordan went too crazy with the Ones this year, and shows no signs of slowing down in 2010. The One just seems to common now. Anyone feelin me on this??? Hypermax n Hyperdunks also missing
