Former Wieden+Kennedy art director Mac Erdenberger took to social media to show off a pair of lit-up Nike Mags with a simple caption of “October 21st, 2015”. That’s the date that Marty McFly travels to in that classic movie, so there’s a great chance that 10/21 is the actual release date of the power-lacing Nike Mag. But are we getting a first look at the actual 2015 release version here? Chances are these are from the 2011 eBay-only release, but a guy like Erdenberger certainly has some reach given his former ties with Wieden, Still, we’ll have to wait a bit more until Nike pushes forward with the Mag release, so stay tuned for more updates on the Nike Mags and keep October 21st, 2015 circled on your calendar.
Update: On October 20th, Nike tweeted at Michael J. Fox with a cryptic “see you tomorrow”. On October 21st, industry insiders confirmed that self-lacing shoes were in NYC.
