The last time we saw Mark McNairy and Kazuki Kuarishi hook up was atop a pair of the seldom seen Monte Carlo model, but this time around the duo continues their run alongside adidas Originals with two new Stan Smith Mids. Utilizing some premium materials in a grey suede takedown and a luxurious brown leather variety, the boot like treatment features the three stripe perforations on the side. What do you think? The Dover Street Market x adidas Originals Stan Smith was the only pair missing from that initial preview that promised pairs from them, Barneys, and colette. Thankfully we’ve this time around got a look at the shoes, which end up as the odd man out amongst these new collaborative adidas Stan Smiths thanks to their absolute lack of branding. All three of these pairs will show up on September 15th, presumably with respective releases exclusive to the connected retailers. It seems like there’s another Colette x adidas Stan Smith on the way. In addition to that special edition sequel, there’s also a Barneys NY x adidas Stan Smith coming that takes a similar whiteout approach that plants the stripe-forming perforations on the medial side of the shoe (Remember that Barneys had the distinction of re-introducing the silhouette last year). The source also mentions a Dover Street Market version with a similar blank slate style makeup, but those have yet to surface. The man who lead up the ZX Flux project just showed off this gem, an adidas Stan Smith creation that features his initials perforated on the sides as a nod to the Raf Simons pairs from this year that had a similar approach. Mind you they’re not for sale, so you’ll have to make some DIY alternations if you want your own sneakers of this sort. Encino, California retailer Primitive gets the first crack at a collaboration. Utilizing the adidas Skateboarding Stan Smith Vulc, Primitive goes the subtle and minimalist route with a red suede base while accents of navy and gold arrive throughout the silhouette. An off white vulcanized outsole provides a clean finish to match the Primitive A League jacket and t-shirt, each featuring a matching crest that ties in with the three-piece collection’s Americana theme.
