The peak of Penny Hardaway’s career might have been the 1996 NBA Eastern Conference Finals. Not only did his Orlando Magic dispatch the recently returned Michael Jordan and his Chicago Bulls, but MJ actually rocked a pair of Penny’s first signature shoe, the Air Flight One during one of the Conference Finals games! The AFOne is Penny’s ‘lost’ shoe, and the Air Penny 1 that released the following year marks the start of one of the most successful signature lines in Swoosh history.
Fitting then to see that both Penny and Michael’s shoes from the 1995-96 season will be commemorated in the upcoming Nike Air Max LeBron VII Heroes Pack. The Penny 1-inspired AML7s pictured above are faithful to the orignals thanks to squiggly lines on the side panel Swooshes, marbled suede on the mudguard and a perfect colorway.
